Proposed Dwelling at Church Lane, Gargrave, Yorkshire:

A planning application for a single dwelling was received by Craven District Council in 2014 on a

site within a partly-developed paddock, adjacent to a vicarage and opposite a Grade II listed parish

church, within the Gargrave Conservation Area. Hinchliffe Heritage was appointed in July 2014 to provide specialist heritage advice to the council on the potential impact of the proposal. Hinchliffe Heritage concluded that the proposal would have a damaging impact on the conservation area and the application was subsequently refused. An appeal was submitted and dismissed as it “…would result in an incremental reduction to the openness that would detrimentally impact on the rural agricultural character and appearance of the Conservation Area.”
